The Gunflint Mail Run Sled Dog Race is a continuous race consisting of two legs of equal distance, separated by a mandatory layover. There are two classes: a 12-dog, 100-mile race and an 8-dog, 65-mile race. It is being held in Cook County, Minnesota, just off the beautiful Gunflint Trail.
We are doing our snow dances, our snow prayers and our snow meditations. We’re begging and pleading for cold weather and hoping the snow gods are paying attention!
Here are maps of the two race routes. Please note that the map for the 12 dog race covers both events as the course is the same – the 8 dog race simply turns around earlier. For those familiar with the area, you can see that there are a few challenging hills along the way. It’s going to be a great race!
